Further consultation on Wickersley parking restrictions

A period of statutory consultation is underway before proposed changes to parking regulations around the service road at the end of Green Lane and The Grove can be brought in.

Signs have been posted in the area with technical details of the proposals, which have already been subject to views from residents. In summary these are:

  • Time limits on parking outside the shops
  • ‘No parking’ rules on junctions to try to keep these clear
  • Formalising the late night taxi rank in the bus stop on Bawtry Road
  • ‘No waiting’ rules to be introduced between 9am and 5pm, seven days a week, on The Grove

The proposals are intended to try to reduce the difficulties of badly parked vehicles, which have at times blocked access for bin lorries and fire engines, and to stop people from blocking parking spaces near the shops by leaving their vehicles there all day.

The taxi rank proposal was requested by the police to try to regulate taxi pick ups. A further proposal to formalise a taxi rank closer to the Three Horseshoes pub was opposed by some residents in the first round of consultation and so has been removed.

Residents have asked us previously about the possibility of introducing resident parking only, but this received very little support in the first round of consultation and so is also not included in these proposals.

This is the final round of public consultation so we would urge anyone with comments to submit them before the 6th December deadline. You can do so by writing to: B. Nahal, Head of Legal Services, Riverside House, Main Street, Rotherham S60 1AE, or via email to Legal-TRO@rotherham.gov.uk. Please quote reference NF/63462.
