Changes to electoral registration: look out for your letter

Letters about changes to the way you register to vote are landing on doorsteps in our area this week. The government has changed the law, so that instead of households all registering together on one form, individuals will be responsible for their own registration. It is hoped that this new system will be more secure and reliable.

For most people, we expect their letter to say that they do not need to take any action to be transferred on to the new electoral register. However, some people may need to provide the council with some additional information. This will be detailed in your letter, so please read it carefully.
