Our response to bus changes consultation

Sixty residents attended the special Area Assembly meeting we called on Friday 22nd November to put their views on proposed changes to bus services directly to representatives of SYPTE and First.

We share many of the concerns raised by residents about the reduction in the number of buses serving our area, and particularly the axing of the number 4 service that connects Flanderwell and Sunnyside to Dalton, Asda, and the X78 route.

You can read our formal response to the consultation, which we have made alongside our MP, John Healey, by clicking here (PDF).

Along with John, we will also be seeking a further meeting with First management to discuss local bus provision in more detail.

Residents still have until midnight tonight to make their own comments on the proposals – and we would urge as many people as possible to do so on the Bus Partnership website.

First have also released their Christmas timetable: buses in our area will stop running at around 6pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. For full information please click here.
