Streetlights on Springfield Road

We have been contacted by a number of residents of Springfield Road in Wickersley who were concerned that some streetlights have not been illuminated overnight for a number of weeks, leaving half the street in darkness.

Residents had contacted the council’s Streetpride service but the issue seemed unresolved. We raised this both with Streetpride and with Northern Power Grid (who are responsible for supplying power to the lights) this week. Northern Power Grid have been in touch today to say that their engineer attended the site this morning and replaced a faulty fuse in one of the lights, which was causing the problems with the others. They believe that all but one of the lights should now be working – we’ll try to check this later tonight when darkness falls.

The remaining ‘broken’ light seems to require repair by Streetpride and has been passed back to them to attend to now that power has been restored.

We will of course follow this up again if any further action is required.

UPDATE (Sunday 17th March, 11pm): Sadly the problem seems to have recurred. We have raised this for further attention.
